Original Story:

It's 2020, and it's time for the S20. Samsung will be announcing its new phone lineup in San Francisco on Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. PT / 2 p.m. ET, and it's going to be a jam-packed event with a ton of new products.

How to Watch Unpacked 2020

I'd expect this to be at least a 90-minute presentation, given the number of prominent new devices. If you have some time, Samsung will live stream the event on Samsung.com. Once things kick off, here's what to expect:

Three New Galaxy S20 Phones

According to most rumors on the internet, Samsung will announce three new phones at Unpacked: the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G. Their screens will come in at 6.2, 6.7, and 6.9 inches, respectively.

Camera will be a big focus here. According to PhoneArena, the smaller models will have 12-megapixel primary, 12-megapixel wide-angle, and 64-megapixel 3x telephoto cameras. The larger model will have a 108-megapixel primary camera and a "space zoom" function allowing 5x optical zoom, 30x lossless zoom, and 100x digital zoom.

PhoneArena says there will be 4G and 5G versions of the new devices, but I've heard rumors that say otherwise, at least in the US. The US models will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, which only pairs with a 5G modem, so they'll all have 5G.

The phones will hit shelves on March 13, according to PhoneArena, with prices starting at 899 euros ($986, so probably $999).

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip

Samsung's vertically folding phone has leaked quite a lot in the past month; it's all over Instagram and YouTube, as this story from 9to5Google shows. And Samsung has apparently given up trying to hide the device because it aired a commercial during Sunday night's Oscar telecast that straight up showed the Z Flip device.

According to 9to5Google, meanwhile, the flip phone will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. It's also very purple. The site goes into more detail in a separate story. The phone will apparently have a 22:9 display with a 2,636-by-1,080 resolution, as well as a tiny 1-inch secondary display on the outside. It will have a 12-megapixel main camera, a wide-angle camera, and a 10-megapixel front-facing camera. It will only use 4G, not 5G, and cost around $1,500.

Samsung Galaxy Buds+

Samsung's Galaxy Buds are the company's answer to Apple's AirPods. I've used them; they're just okay, with so-so battery life and relatively poor voice transmission quality. According to Android Authority, they're getting a major upgrade at Unpacked to become Galaxy Buds+. The new earbuds will feature an ability to auto-launch Spotify, and possibly a gaming mode.

SlashGear says the new earbuds will cost $149, have an additional microphone, and potentially have 11 hours of battery life, plus another full charge in their charging case. If that's true, it's a big step up from the original Buds.

Samsung Galaxy Home Mini

Wait, what? Samsung's Galaxy Home was a failed smart speaker announced in 2018 and never hit shelves. Now SamMobile says a smaller version of the Bixby-powered speaker will come out by next week (or possibly today, in Korea, for around $83.)

The image on SamMobile's story explains what Samsung is really doing here: the Galaxy Home Mini is an "AI Interface for Smart Home Everywhere," not necessarily a general-purpose voice assistant. Another SamMobile story explains the Home Mini will have an infrared blaster to control even offline home appliances, neatly sidestepping the complex requirements for every home goods maker to build software for every voice assistant platform.
